Imported wine, beer to get cheaper - TOI reports

The Central Board of Excise and Customs on Tuesday notified the duty cut but allowed state governments to impose additional levies equivalent to taxes on domestic manufacturers.

All this talk of imported wines getting cheaper is a lot of hot air. The news media has completely ignored the ground realities. All states have increased their taxes to unaffordable levels. Dom Perignon which used to cost Rs. 7,500 is now Rs. 10,000 a bottle.
