Indo-Italian handshake
Riona Wines Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture and has technical collaboration with two Italian wineries Terre Cortesi Moncaro Sca and Enzo Mecella of Marche, Italy. Both these wineries are currently exporting to over 40 countries worldwide. With their immense experience they now step into India. This Indo-Italian joint venture involves equity, finance, viticulture, winemaking and technical transfer.

Wines from Marche, Italy have been imported to India for the first time. The launch ceremonies saw the glitterati in attendance. The wines were launched on 14th December 2009 at the Aqua restaurant of The Park, Delhi by Ms Amanpreet Wahi, and Jatin Kochar. Wahi is top fashion model and Kochar is a fashion designer for the elite.
Mumbai's launch ceremony saw Bollywood celebrity Luke Kenny and famous model Nina Manuel launching Riona Wines on 17th December 2009 at Hotel Renaissance.
The launch ceremony at Pune's Westin on 21st December 2009 was equally interesting. TV actress Mrunal Kulkarni introduced Riona wines to the city.
Italian dancers performed to the tune of lilting Bollywood music at these launch ceremonies. The Italian-Indian handshake in wine saw a parallel on stage! Great going Riona...
The best is yet to come: From vineyards to market
The JV is not limited to imported wines, though. Italian grape varietals have found their way to India, and a winery of 1.5 million liters capacity is to be installed in three years. New grape varietals like Verdicchio, Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Cieliogiolo, Sangiovese blended with Montelpulciano have been introduced in India. These grapes have been chosen keeping the Indian soil and palate in mind. Way to go, Riona...
