Mumbai is the main market where you can start targeting.You have to be mindful of the cultural difference as well in the main cities.There are few parts of india where some ppl dont drink alcohol or are purely non veg.................... If you want to transport wine within states there might be cost associated with it...............depends on the state.There are different marketing strategies you can use.............in India but just be mindful what market are you targeting.............there are different classes in India and not everyone has the taste of wine...................I can help you further in your research and distribution............contact me on rinku_austin@yahoo.com or contact me on 0061-413379633.

MALBEC IN ARGENTINA:

Originally grown in the Southeast of France, this grape has turned into the premier wine from Argentina, where it has found the most propitious ecological features for its development. Argentinian malbec has become worldwide known and has been awarded well-deserved medals in enological contests.
It acquires different features according to the weather and soil conditions where it is grown. In the area of Maipú, Mendoza, it reaches its highest development, surpassing other regions in the country. It produces wines of pleasant taste, medium body with certain earthy notes and an intense purple color. Of vigorous texture and taste, it has a touch of rusticity in the palate.

Cluster: mid-sized and quite loose.
Grapes: Spherical, small or medium-sized, bluish black in color, thin skin and soft pulp.
Ripeness: first late season.

What is possibly needed is a structured survey done...

Would the industry be interested in a syndicated survey done to know the extent of wine consumption?

Can a brand / label name that is in the USA or for that matter any where else in the world, create legal hassles if some other company launches under the same name here in India? 

Some lawyers mentioned that there is an issue only if that brand (elsewhere) is a big brand. If not, there is no issue? Is there truth in this?
