Hello All

I am planning to move to Chennai (Tamil Nadu) from Australia in March and would like to bring with us some of our wine collection. My employer won't allow me to ship any alcohol .

I have invoices for 90% of the wine I want to import. Do customs value the wine at the invoice price?

Where do I go to find the processes I need to follow and costs associated with taxes and duties etc??

We are in the same line of business! We are in the process of building our distribution on the ground in defined locations in India. Similar to you, we find the duties/taxes etc in the Indian market quite daunting - not only their complexity but also the frequency of change. I am also looking into the requirements for import licences (and how to obtain one for our local distributors) ... Do you have anything on that?
