You have not mentioned, the place where you are from. In Hyderabad, I chanced upon the wine yeast - dried type at M/s Raja Laxmi Enterprises in Begum Bazar. It is from Prestige company, Bombay one and the packet indicates that it is 'Sachromyces Cerevesia'. It is good I used it successfully.
This yeast may be good but there are better strains available with 'National Chemical Laboratory, Pune'. There are quite a few strains for wine making and you should get the strain for Rs. 100/-. But I have not tried so far to get the same.
