    Dear Kunal,

Many thanks for your post. This is a democracy and free society! Of course you can set up a business selling wine and assosiate yourself with distributors. Competition in theory increases consumer choice and price. The important thing is that you know your market and provide a point of differentiation from the current band of suppliers. If you are the same as everyone else, why would a customer choose you over and established supplier. Also be aware that price is not the only way to achieve a point of differentiation.

    Dear Mr Puneet

There does not appear to be any online wine sites in India, what do you think is the reason for this, given that wine is a growth industry in India. Some of the distributors have web sites, displaying their products, but online ordering and payment does not seem to be an option, in fact prices are not displayed at all. Are there legal restrictions complicating the setup of online wine sites that allow for ordering and paying online through credit cards etc...?

    Your thoughts would be welcome.

    Cheers

    Re: question for mr Puneet

Thanks for your question. Currently Indian law prohibits the sale of alcohol, including wine over the internet. This is the reason for the lack of sites actually selling wine. However there is nothing to stop you dispaying the products you have and inviting enquiries. However do check with your local authority on this

Thank you for your reply. If considering Mumbai, as a possible target market for an internet wine site, what local authority would be the best to contact in providing the necessary information.

    Kind Regards
