Importing/distributing wine in to Delhi/NCR region

    Hi there,

I have recently returned from Australia (Sydney) and am looking to get in to importing and distributing wine in NCR region.  I believe i don't need license to import wine but I am confused about duties as well as license to sell wines.

Question: Could any help me with more information on importing/distributing wine in to NCR region?

Question: Do I need license to distribute wines to Bars/Pubs or Private stores (as in case of Haryana)?

Question: Do I need license to set up private wine store in Haryana?

     Thanks

    Ashish  Gupta

The answer to all of these questions is Yes.

Entry Barriers are high for new Importers with Import Licences in the region of US$10,000 Per Year. Every label that you intend to sell also needs to be registered, as well as yourself being set up in the state as a licensed Trader.

If you are confused at this point, I suggest you take your time to understand these structures before embarking on any venture.

What do you intend to take to India from Oz?
