    Re: Wine making

    Hi!

I can explain a very simple but crude method to make wine at home. Even though it is crude it is fun and the product is good to enjoy with a couple of friends.

Buy some fresh grapes, wash them with water and store in refrigerator for a couple of hours. When the grapes are cold take a stainless steel utensil in which the grapes can be stored for 10-12 days. Destem the grapes with hands and put all the berries in the utensil. Then add 75 grams of daal(uncooked toor or moong daal) or rice (uncooked chawal) and mix it properly and keep in a cool place where no direct sunlight comes. Cover the utensil with a plate which has holes in it, the ones used for covering milk at home. Then again cover it with a clean cloth.

Now everyday open the utensil and mix the berries properly and again keep it. Follow the same procedure for atleast 8 days to max. 10 days. Now the wine is ready and you can filter it with a cloth. After filtering store in a bottle and keep it in refrigerator but in the door panel and dont set the refrigerator to low temperatures. After keeping for another 3-4 days now you can enjoy the wine that you have made.

Now if you want to make wine using all the exact procedures and ingrediants used in a winery then I am not able to help you. Because I dont think that we have anybody who supplies the wine making kits here in India as they are available in other wine making countries.

You may contact someone who is in Australia or Europe (your friend or relative) and see wether he can help you in getting the kits.

    Regards,

     Raj
