Dr. Phadtare moved to USA
in 1960s after completing his M. A Sociology in University in Pune .
Later he completed his Ph. D in sociology and continued his teaching carrier
in Michigan State University, Michigan USA. In 1981 he returned to roots in
Nashik, India with a major switch in profession teaching to farming.
With his farming interest
and researching background he helped to identify the suitable wine grapes
for the Nashik area. Apart from that he designed several Landscaping
projects for small bungalows to large hotels and also taking classes for
some organizations.
Maharashtra Government
officially asked him to play major role in development of Wine Institute in
Nashik. A proposal is now being developed to set up such a Institute for
Research Development and Training in the filed of Enology, the science of
wine making. Currently he is researching Dry wood cuttings of twelve
varieties were imported from California in consultation with a vineyard
expert from California, USA, Of those seven varieties have been planted on
25 acres of farm land in Ambe bahula, Dist. Nashik.
Importantly, he created the
Mountain View Winery, Ambe Bahula District with
beautiful
surrounding view. Mountain View is now producing 300,000 liters wine per
year. The winery is located 30 feet under the ground to keep the wine making
facility cool by the natural climate. The winery also building a conference
hall, restaurant and play place for kids. It will be a nice place to visit
with family once it is completed. Dr. Phadtare received several offers from
multinational liquor companies to buy his winery. But he wants to keep his
passion and enjoy it. Great Job!.
